EASY WESTERN RIBS
4 pounds pork spareribs (about 2 whole sides)
Water
1 tablespoon salt
FOR THE BARBECUE BASTING SAUCE:
1 cup catsup
1 cup water
1/4 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon celery seed
Dash Tabasco
Cut sides of spareribs in half. Place in large pan. Cover with water; add 1 tablespoon salt. Bring to boil. Cover, simmer until tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Drain.
Combine remaining ingredients for the Barbecue Basting Sauce. Bring to boil; simmer 30 minutes.
Brush ribs with the hot Barbecue Basting Sauce. Place ribs on grill, 3 to 5-inches above hot coals. Turn often and baste with sauce. Grill 1/2 to 1 hour.
Makes 4 servings
