Recipe(tried): English Muffin Bread

English Muffin Loaf

5 1/2 to 6 cups flour
2 pkgs. dry active yeast
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 cups milk
1/2 cup water
corn meal

Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda. Heat liquids until very warm (120-130degrees). Add to dry mixture; beat well. Stir in enough more flour to bake a stiff batter.

Spoon into two 9x5 loaf pans that have been greased and sprinkled with cornmeal. Sprinkle top of loaves with cormeal. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove from pan immediately and cool.
