Recipe: Honey Glazed Turnips (1983)

HONEY GLAZED TURNIPS

3 cups diced peeled white turnips (1 pound)
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons honey
5 thin strips orange rind, about 2 inches long
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon mace or nutmeg (optional)

Place turnips in large skillet; add enough boiling water to cover. Cover and cook over medium heat for 6 minutes, or until tender. Drain.

Add butter, honey, orange strips and salt and cook until glazed, stirring frequently.

Remove orange strips. Sprinkle with mace and orange rind slivers, if desired.

Makes 6 servings
