BeveragesFROTHY STRAWBERRY MILK SHAKES AND VARIATIONS
Source: Knox Gelatin
Makes 4 servings
A healthy after-school treat that older children can prepare themselves. No high-fat ice cream is needed to produce these quick and creamy milkshakes.
1 pouch Knox Unflavored Gelatin
1-2/3 cups (400 mL) cold milk, divided
1-2/3 cups (400 mL) frozen unsweetened strawberries
2 tbsp (30 mL) honey to taste
1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla
5 or 6 ice cubes
Sprinkle gelatin over 1/4 cup (50 mL) of the cold milk in a small saucepan; let stand 1 minute. Stir over low heat until gelatin is completely dissolved, about 5 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Combine strawberries, honey and vanilla in blender container; process until smooth. With machine running, gradually add remaining milk and gelatin mixture through feed cap; process until well combined. Add ice cubes one at a time; process at high speed after each addition until ice is melted.
Pour and serve immediately.
