LAVASCH
Lavasch,is a light and savory cracker and is a quick and easy addition to any number of seasonal favorites. Serve a freshly baked batch of Lavasch with your best dips as a yummy appetizer, or stack the crackers with grilled veggies, meat or cheese cubes for a tasty everyday snack. Looking for a little extra flavour? Try sprinkling on some zesty parmesan cheese, dried onion or garlic powder. You won't be able to stop at just one, so bake an extra large batch today and keep them in the cupboard for your munching pleasure.
1/2 cup ROBIN HOOD Best For Bread Homestyle White Flour 125 mL
1/2 cup ROBIN HOOD Best For Bread Whole Wheat Flour 125 mL
1/2 cup ROBIN HOOD or OLD MILL Oats 125 mL
1/4 tsp salt 1 mL
1 tbsp dehydrated onion flakes 15 mL
1 tbsp sesame seeds 15 mL
1 tbsp poppy seeds 15 mL
1/4 tsp garlic powder 1 mL
2 tbsp vegetable oil 30 mL
6 tbsp water 90 mL
TOPPINGS (OPTIONAL)
sesame seeds
poppy seeds
coarse salt
garlic powder
garlic salt
flax seeds
dehydrated onion flakes
Parmesan cheese, grated
Combine first 9 ingredients in medium sized bowl. Mix with wooden spoon, adding water slowly, until dough comes together and forms a ball. Remove dough to floured surface and divide into 16 pieces. Roll each piece of dough as thin as possible into long thin strips, approximately 6-inches long by 2-inches wide (15 cm by 5 cm).
Place on greased baking sheets and sprinkle with desired toppings, pressing toppings into dough.
Bake at 475F (240C) for 5 to 6 minutes, or until crisp and golden brown.
Makes: 16 pieces
