LEMON KRINKLE COOKIES

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoon shredded lemon peel
2 3/4 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
Cream together butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs and lemon peel; beat well.
Sift together dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture. Shape into 1 1/2-inch balls and place on ungreased cooky sheet.
Bake in hot oven (400 degrees F) for 10-12 minutes.
