Recipe: Mild Beef and Bean Chili (Velveeta, 1983)

MILD BEEF AND BEAN CHILI

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans, undrained
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, undrained
1 tablespoon chili powder
4 Velveeta Slices Pasteurized Process Cheese Spread

Brown meat; drain.

Add onion; cook until tender.

Stir in beans, tomatoes and chili powder. Bring to boil; simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add process cheese spread; stir until melted. Spoon into individual bowls. Top with additional process cheese spread, if desired.

TO PREPARE IN A MICROWAVE:
Crumble meat in 1 1/2-quart bowl; add onion. Microwave on High 5 minutes or until meat loses pink color when stirred. Drain. Stir in beans, tomatoes and chili powder. Microwave 8 to 10 minutes or until thoroughly heated, stirring after 5 minutes. Continue as directed.

Makes 4 servings (about 1 cup each)
