Recipe: Oven Stew (using condensed tomato soup)

OVEN STEW

2 slices bacon
2 large onions
1 1/2 lbs. round steak
3 tbsp. flour
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream of tomato soup
1 1/2 cups water
Salt, pepper, paprika (to taste)
Flour and cold water (as needed)
6 small onions
6 small potatoes
4 carrots, sliced

Cut bacon in small pieces and brown in frying pan. Remove to baking dish.

Slice large onions and brown in fat. Add to bacon.

Cut beef in small pieces, roll in 3 tablespoons flour and brown. Put in dish.

In fat that remains add soup, 1 1/2 cups water, seasonings to taste. Add flour mixed with a little cold water. Boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly, and pour over beef.

Cover and bake 2 1/2 hours.

Add whole onions, potatoes and sliced carrots. Bake 1 hour longer.
