Pantry-Shelf Clam Sauce

Heat 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil in a skillet and saute 1 small chopped onion until soft. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 cloves of garlic (minced), continue until the garlic cooks, but doesn't brown. Add 1/8 teaspoon pepper and 1/2 teaspoon basil. Then add 1 can (7 ounces) chopped clams and their liquid. Simmer until piping hot; stir in 2 tablespoons chopped parsley, salt to taste and pour over 1/2 pound cooked pasta.
