Recipe: Penne with Sausages and Broccoli

Main Dishes - Pasta, Sauces
Penne with Sausages and Broccoli
Servings: 6

12 ounces (340g) penne pasta, uncooked
5 cloves garlic, sliced
12 ounces (340g) Italian sausage, in bulk (removed from casing)
3 cups (345g) broccoli florets
1 cup (240mL) water
Parmesan cheese

Cook penne pasta in rapidly boiling water until done. Drain and set aside. Heat olive oil in a large skillet. Add garlic and saut until the garlic turns brown. Remove from skillet and set aside. Brown sausage in the same pan and cook until done through, about 10 minutes. Add broccoli and water to the pan and cook for 5 minutes, uncovered, stirring occasionally. The sausage will be crumbly and mixed in with the broccoli. Transfer penne to skillet and cook for 2 minutes, stirring to thoroughly combine ingredients. Top with the crisp garlic bits and serve with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
