Recipe: Pepper Steak

Pepper Steak

1 1/2 pounds boneless top round steak
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 medium tomatoes, coarsely chopped
2 medium green peppers, seeded and cut into strips
1 small onion, sliced
1 cup water
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 tsp beef bouillon granules
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water
Hot cooked rice

Flatten steak in 1/4 inch thickness (use meat mallet or rolling pin), slice across the grain into strips. Brown steak in hot oil in Dutch oven; drain. Add tomato and next 8 ingredients; cover and simmer 1 hour. Combine cornstarch a 2 tbsp water; add to steak mixture. Cook, stir constantly to thicken. Serve over rice.
