Recipe(tried): Simple Sweet Grilled Salmon

Rhonda - I do not know that I would call this a smoked or candied salmon, but everyone I have every made this for loves it. And it is easy!

SIMPLE SWEET GRILLED SALMON

butter
minced garlic
brown sugar
1 raw potato, sliced lengthwise
lemon juice

Prepare a basting sauce with ingredients to taste of butter, garlic, and brown sugar. It should be thicker rather than thinner to stay on the salmon while grilling.

Prepare hot grill for the salmon by sliding a raw potato cut lengthwise over the racks on the grill. Be careful to only rub in one direction and do not recoat. Potato starch provides a 'teflon' type coating to the grill to keep the salmon from sticking to the grill.

Baste Salmon with prepared sauce and squeeze with lemon juice.


Grill Salmon until it just becomes opague to keep it from getting tough. Flip Salmon as needed and continue to baste and add lemon juice.

This recipe is light, very tender and never dry if you take the fish off the grill right away. I use it for a light meal and often serve it with grilled asparagus topped with kosher salt.
