Recipe(tried): Smoky Salt
Herbs and SpicesFYI :We have seasoned/flavored &/or colored .oils, vinegars, sugars & salts.Which have become very expensive as you know! After going to the grocery store & seeing this small bottle of smoky ambrosia for $6.00 & something, I figured that I might be able to make my own Smoky Salt, which I basically sprinkle on just about everything! You must try it on scrambled eggs(A light sprinking on fresh green beans, mushrooms or a marinade for meat on the grill.)Sprinkled in Chili it is so wonderful!
Anyway, after having what Oprah Winphrey calls a "Light bulb moment" lol. I decided out of necessity to try it on my own & I have to tell you...Its so good, soo easy & sooo cheap to make!So for those who may not make colored sugars, salts etc.,try this & you will become addicted if you love smoky foods.
I did it the same way that decorative sugars are made only I added Hickory Liquid Smoke Marinade sparingly. We sprinkle it on just about everything! So can hardly do without it.The kids literally panic when we're almost out of it.J/K
All I did was to a cup of iodized salt, sprinkle & stir in the Liquid Smoke to a fine dry powder, adjust flavoring as needed.A person could do this with so many different flavors!Hope you enjoy & Happy Holidays!
