Sugar Crinkles

I remember Grandma making those wonderful cookies for years. So I called her tonight and asked her to go back to her much battered recipe box for this superb old-fashioned recipe. Please let me know if that's what you're looking for.

Beat 1 cup Crisco and 1 1/2 cups sugar together until fluffy. Add 2 eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla extract, and 1 tsp. lemon extract. Beat until combined. In another bowl, combine 2.1/2 cups flour, 2 tsp. Baking powder, and 1/2 tsp. salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the sugar-egg mixture. Beat well. Cover and chill overnight in refrigerator. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll balls in 1/4 cup sugar. Place balls on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 8 to 9 minutes until cookies are barely golden. Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet. Then cool completely on rack. Enjoy.
