TRIM MAC SALAD
"All the flavor of the most famous burger in the world, without the weight problems that can come with it. It's all about that special sauce, right? That's a cinch when you use our Thousand Island Dressing. Now the whole family can sit down to enjoy the taste of fast food for dinner and you don't have to fret about the health consequences. Do you have children who don't want to eat salad? What a great way for them to learn how to get addicted to salad when there's yumminess like this."

"For the sake of ease, we brown the ground beef rather than make patties. It's just quicker, yet still tastes great in the salad. If you prefer to use beef patties for a more authentic burger experience, go ahead. You'll want to cut the burgers into bite-size pieces once they are cooked."
2 to 2 1/2 pounds thawed ground beef
1/2 cup water, beef broth, or bone stock
1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon Mineral Salt (or salt)
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 large onion, finely diced
1 tablespoon butter
3 or 4 large heads crisp romaine lettuce, shredded or roughly chopped
3 or 4 ripe tomatoes, roughly chopped
8 ounces cheddar cheese, grated or finely shredded
3 or 4 dill pickles, chopped, or 1/3 cup dill relish
Thousand Island Dressing
1/4 to 1/3 cup sesame seeds
Brown the meat in a large skillet over medium-high heat, a bout 10 minutes, then pour off any excess fat. Add the water, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper.
In a separate smaller skillet, saute the onion in the butter until translucent.
Assemble individual salad bowls by layering first the lettuce, then the meat, then the onion, then the tomatoes, cheese, and pickles, and then the Thousand Island Dressing. Top with the sesame seeds. (Or just layer in one big bowl and let people serve themselves.)

Family serve - feeds 6 to 8 (halve ingredients if your family is smaller)
