Recipe(tried): Walnut Chewies

WALNUT CHEWIES

1 egg
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup flour, sifted
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp baking soda
1 cup chopped walnuts

Beat egg until foamy; beat in sugar and vanilla.

Stir in flour, salt and soda. Add walnuts. Spread in a well greased 8-inch square pan.

Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes, until crust has a dull finish.
Cut into squares while still warm.

Makes about 16 (two-inch) squares.
