1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup sake or dry sherry
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon ginger root -- grated
1 1/2 pounds boneless chicken breast -- cubed
6 green onion -- sliced 1-inch thick

In a saucepan combine soy sauce, water, sake, sugar, and ginger. Boil one minute; cool; Marinate chicken and onion in soy mixture for 15 to 30 minutes. On skewers, alternate chicken and onion pieces. Grill over hot coals 8 to 10 minutes or till done; turn and brush occasionally with reserve marinade.
