ISO: Copeland's Bayou Broccoli balls - Question

We tried the Copeland's Bayou Broccoli balls according to your recipe and they did not stay in ball shape during frying. Should the broccoli be cooked or raw. What holds it all together? We just love these and Copeland's closed its Mobile location so we have not had any in a long time. Thanks in advance for the help.
