Another question raised!

Misc.
Why DON'T we wear aprons like our mothers and grandmothers used to? Is it simply that it's so much easier now to throw something in the laundry, versus having to set up a wringer washer and hang clothes outside when something got dirty?

My memories of my mother and grandmother were always with them having their aprons on, the bib type - and they always had the cute rick-rack along all the edges - of course, they had made them themselves. And always a pocket. BUT, for some reason, they didn't "teach" us kids to put aprons on, so I never got in the habit. And I'm always trying to get spatter spots out of my clothes!! Perhaps if I had to set up a wringer washer and set-tubs, I'd put on an apron!

Which reminds me - remember that lovely smelling soft brown soap that they used to cut up with an old paring knife kept by the washer for that purpose?? What was the name of that soap. That was in the days before Tide in the box! And blueing!! Remember that? And starch in the collars and front button section of our guy's shirts??

Love to all - June
