re: 5 nuts mooncakes
Misc.Hi Judy, 2010 and the moon cakes this year are getting pricier and quality has gone down for the 5 nuts type which is the only type of moon cake I like. So I figure that next year , I will bake my own "ng yan"moon cake.
I believe the key ingredients are peanut, watermelon seed, pumpkin seed, candied walnut, sesame, almond, chinese ham, candied orange peel, candied wintermelon. From Tai Chong Kok moon cake shop in Smith street, there is also a fragrant candied green herb used which is nice.
