Re: Request for Slovak Recipes....
Misc.Barbara C:
Thank you for the recipe. Do you have a homemade version of the Solo Poppyseed filling? (I live in Saskatchewan, CANADA and we are lucky we can actually buy packaged poppyseed. We do not have a lot of ethnic spices, fillings, etc. as we live in a predominantly German/Mennonite community.)
The Easter Bread sounds yummy. Would you mind posting that recipe, too? I am like a sponge, trying to sop up all the info I can on Slovak cuisine.
My grandma and dad used to make this "Lefse-like" food called Looksha (spelling unknown, but I spelled it how it sounded like) It was made with only riced cooked potatoes, and a bit of flour. The Scandanavian Lefse is made with a grease (bacon fat, lard, whatever...), but Grandma and dad only made it with potatoes and as little flour as possible. Have you ever heard of this?
Thanks in advance for any future help, and thank you for the help you have given thus far.....
