Request for Slovak Recipes....

Misc.
My grandparents and father came from Czechoslovakia, Slovakia Province
(Tovarne, somewhere near Vranov and Humene and a river - Topla) in 1938
(My grandfather actually came over in 1930, and my grandmother and
father followed in Dec 1938).

My grandmother used to make many good foods (she passed away in 1996),
some of which I remember were prune buns and a baked rice-pudding
like-loaf (at Easter and Christmas only, probably because it used so
many eggs, which made it quite expensive to make???) We also had, for
Christmas every year, a delicious, clear broth Mushroom soup, made from
dried mushrooms her sister sent her in the Fall from Slovakia. At
Christmas, and Easter, we also had a bean stew-like, made with salt pork
and navy beans, to which we added vinegar to the gravy-like broth before
we ate it. She also made a poppy-seed roll (similar to a jelly roll,
but with crushed? poppy seeds, and maybe honey??) Other things my
Grandma made were canned citron and a canned green tomato, not really a
pickle, but I can't describe it. I tried to get these recipes from her,
for many years before she died, but they were in her head, and she
couldn't really relate them to me, I am not sure if it was due to a
slight language barrier, or what. She tried, and I tried out what she
told me, but they didn't taste like Grandma's. Her favorite saying,
when she became frustrated, or didn't wish to discuss anything further
was "I can't understand, get Daddy and he tell me in my English!" I
also know my Grandma used a lot of garlic in everything. When I walk
into the house when my husband has been cooking with Garlic (which he
does more often than not - cook and use garlic, both!), the smells
remind me of walking into Grandma & Grandpa's house as a little girl.

Do you know where I could find these mentioned recipes? I have been
searching the Internet for many hours, over a few weeks, and cannot find
many sites with too many recipes on them (and to add to my frustration
some links are not in existence anymore --- and I think, ah, that one
probably had what I wanted. Murphy's Law and all that!!!)
