This sounds like a good copy of the actual old mix. Perhaps some frustrated baker created their own version when they could no longer buy the mix. I'm sure that the box mix was probably artificially flavored and colored, too. Those little flakes of yellow in the cake surely weren't real lemon zest.

I did notice that Swan's Down used to be a General Mills product and now is a Reily Foods product. Maybe that's when the mixes were dropped. The link I posted doesn't seem to work. It was simply pictures from early mix ads.

Betsy might want to move some of these great cake recipes to the Baker's Board. They all sound like winners!
