My aunt made iron sandwiches using waxed paper!

Misc.
My brother & I thought that was just TOO COOL! She put a grilled cheese or grilled bologna & cheese sandwich on a piece of waxed paper on the ironing board, then topped with another sheet of waxed paper & pressed with a hot iron until the cheese melted.Yum! I still waxed paper it to make the one cookie that makes it really Christmas to me, Mom's Danish Butter Cookies. The recipe calls for waxed paper lined cookie sheets. Not sure if it's the taste of those cookies or the smell of warm waxed paper that brings back such a flood of Christmas, Mom and cookies!
Thanks for the great ice cream idea Meg, I have been having ice cream freezer burn problems all summer since the brand we buy changed their packaging!
As far as cloakrooms go,my favorites are the ones our favorite bed and breakfast turned into the bathrooms in each classroom turned bedroom! The rooms at this inn are the old classrooms, huge, wonderful rooms with 15 foot ceilings and 15 foot windows! Each has a cloakroom turned bathroom. You can almost smell the waxed paper wrapped bologna sandwiches when you stay there!
