Recipe: Cheeseburger Deep Dish Pizza

1 pound lean ground beef
Pizza Dough (recipe follows)
1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes, drained
1 tablespoon instant minced onion
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
3/4 teaspoon salt, divided use
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (6 ounces)
CooK and stir meat until brown. Drain off fat.
Prepare Pizza Dough.
Mix tomatoes, onion, oregano, 1/4 teaspoon salt, the pepper and garlic powder; break up tomatoes.
Heat oven to 425 degrees.
Press dough evenly on bottom and halfway up sides of greased baking pan, 13x9x2-inches. Sprinkle meat over dough; sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Spoon sauce onto meat; top with cheese.
Bake until cheese is light brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
PIZZA DOUGH
1 package active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees F)
2 1/2 cups Gold Medal all-purpose or whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in remaining ingredients; beat vigorously 20 strokes. Let rest about 5 minutes.
Makes 8 servings
