CHOCOLATE FRIED PIES
FOR THE CHOCOLATE FILLING:
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup cocoa
1/4 cup milk
FOR THE PIE CRUST:
2 cups flour
1/2 Tsp. salt
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup water
shortening for deep frying
Mix all chocolate filling ingredients together into a creamy sauce; set aside.
Make pie crust by cutting shortening into flour with salt. Add water to make into a ball.
Pinch off 1/2-inch ball and roll out flat. Spread chocolate sauce over 1 side and turn the other side over it. Press together with fork.
Heat shortening for deep frying and fry pies until brown on 1 side, then turn and brown on other side. Drain on paper towels.
Makes about 12 pies
