Recipe: Chocolate Nuggets (Pet Evaporated Milk ad, 1960's)

CHOCOLATE NUGGETS

"No cooking - just mix and shape."

1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces (1 cup chocolate chips)
3 tablespoons corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup Pet Evaporated Milk
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 1/2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs (1/2 lb.)
1 cup finely cut nuts
3/4 cup chocolate decorettes (chocolate jimmies) or finely cut nuts

Stir Chocolate Pieces in a 2 quart bowl over hot (not boiling) water until melted.

Take from water. Stir in corn syrup and vanilla. Stir in gradually evaporated milk, then powdered sugar, then vanilla wafer crumbs and nuts. Mix well. Let stand about 30 minutes.

Then shape into 1-inch balls and roll in about chocolate decorettes or nuts. Chill.

Makes 4 1/2 dozen
