Recipe: English Apple Salad

Salads - Fruit, Gelatin
This recipe makes a tartly-sweet salad that is a great side dish for any meat or BBQ.

ENGLISH APPLE SALAD

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
3 Tablespoons cornstarch
1 Tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla
dash salt
3 or 4 unpeeled Yellow Delicious apples, diced
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Bring sugar, salt, vinegar, cornstarch, water and vanilla to a boil and cook until clear.

Toss apples with walnuts and pour hot sugar mixture over them. Cover with plastic wrap and chill overnight.
