Desiree's Vicious Brownies
rec.food.chocolate/Desiree McCrorey
I have worked real hard (many recipe trials) to get this one right. For serious chocolate lovers only!
1 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted
2 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/4 cup water
1 tsp instant coffee
1/2 stick margarine (not butter), melted
1/3 - 3/8 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
2 - 3 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 - 2 tablespoons Hershey chocolate syrup
1 Betty Crocker Original Supreme Brownie Mix package (not Duncan Hines)
1 (included in mix box) Betty Crocker Brownie Mix Hershey's syrup packet
1 - 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees, generously butter bottom of a 9x13-inch or 9x9-inch pan.
My preferences: mix everything (except the Betty Crocker mix and the nuts) well. Add mix and stir by hand just until batter is barely moist, add nuts and mix by hand. Brownie batter should be given a very light touch; no heavy duty mixing here. Pour batter into and bake until toothpick comes out clean (9x13-inch - 35-40 minutes, 9x9-inch - 44-48 minutes). Make sure not to overbake.
