Recipe: Five Spice Beef and Rice (using ground beef and Minute Rice)

FIVE SPICE BEEF AND RICE

1 pound ground beef
1 tbsp. olive oil
3/4 cup finely chopped Bermuda onion
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Dash of ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon ground thyme
1/8 teaspoon oregano
1/2 small bay leaf
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
1 cup Minute Rice, uncooked
2 or 3 slices American cheese, cut in 1/2-inch strips (for top)
Sliced stuffed olives (for garnish)

Brown meat in oil; add onion and cook until tender.

Stir in seasonings, soup, tomatoes, and Minute Rice. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon into 1 1/2-quart baking dish; crisscross cheese over top.

Broil until cheese is melted. Garnish with olives.

Serves 6
