Recipe: Hamburger Patties, Twice-Topped

Main Dishes - Beef and Other Meats
HAMBURGER PATTIES, TWICE-TOPPED

2/3 cup undiluted evaporated milk
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 cup fine cracker or bread crumbs
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon prepared mustard
2 cups well-seasoned hot mashed potatoes (may use instant)
3 slices American cheese

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Combine milk, ground beef, cracker or bread crumbs, egg, onion, garlic salt, salt and mustard thoroughly. Form into 6 patties.

Bake for 20 minutes or to desired doneness on broiler pan or rack in a baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray.

Place about 1/3 cup mashed potatoes on each patty. Cut cheese slices into 4 strips each and criss-cross 2 on top of each patty on top of mashed potatoes. Put back in oven for 3-4 minutes until cheese is melted.
