Recipe: Mac and Cheese Surprise (using condensed cream of chicken soup, freeze ahead)

1 cup chopped onion
4 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 cans (10 3/4 ounces each) Campbell's Cream of Chicken Soup
1 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
6 cups cooked elbow macaroni
4 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (about 1 pound)
1 (10 ounce) package frozen mixed vegetables, cooked and drained
Tomato wedges (optional garnish)
In large saucepan, cook onion in butter until tender.
Add soup; gradually blend in 1 1/2 cups water. Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat until cheese melts; stir often.
Garnish with tomato wedges if desired.
TO FREEZE AHEAD:
Pour mixture into two (2-quart) casseroles or shallow baking dishes (12x8x2-inch). Stir 1/3 cup water into each; cover. Store in freezer. To reheat: Place covered casserole in cold oven. Turn oven to 400 degrees F and bake for 1 hour. Uncover; bake 15 minutes more or until hot. Stir before serving.
