Recipe: Mrs. Gardener's Molasses Cookies

Mrs. Gardener's Molasses Cookies

1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
1 cup molasses
2 eggs, beaten
5 cups flour
3 Tbsp vinegar
4 Tbsp hot water
3 Tbsp baking soda
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves

Cream together sugar, shortening, molasses. Add eggs and about 1/4 of the flour. Add spices, soda, vinegar and water; stir in rest of flour.

Chill dough and roll thin on floured surface. Cut. Bake 8-10 minutes at 350F.
