Recipe(tried): Quick and Easy Boston Baked Beans (using canned beans) for Steve, IN
Side Dishes - BeansHi Steve:-) Since your beans are canned, I agree with Carolyn - you don't have to use them all at once. You didn't say what kind of baked beans they are but most are good with many barbequed or grilled entrees such as hamburgers, grilled chicken, hot dogs, sausages, ham steak and pork chops. Below is a recipe I use to "doctor" canned B & M brand baked beans.
QUICK AND EASY BOSTON BAKED BEANS
1 can B & M brand baked beans (I think 22 to 24 oz. size, not the 16
oz. size - next size larger)
1 to 1 1/2 Tbsp. brown sugar, packed
2 to 3 Tbsp. finely chopped onion
1 to 2 tsp. prepared yellow mustard (such as French's)
2 slices bacon, halved and cooked halfway through in the microwzve, if desired(optional)
Mix beans, brown sugar, onion, and mustard well. Pour into a baking dish (1 1/2 qt. pyrex dish, I think ?). Top with halved slices of partially cooked bacon, if desired.
Bake for 45 minutes at 325-350 degrees F. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving. This gives the sauce a chance to cool and thicken a bit before serving.
Serve with, hotdogs, Boston Brown Bread and cole slaw. This is a good lunch or not a fancy supper, one served all over New England.
