Quick and Easy Salisbury Steak
rec.food.recipes/Skirnir (2000)
Makes 6 servings
This is a simple version that is quite good, but I doubt that it is as good as restaurants, as it is a simplified version. But you could use this as a base to modify.
10 1/2 ounces cream of onion soup
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 medium egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 dash pepper
1 tablespoon flour
1/4 cup catsup
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon mustard
In bowl combine 1/3 cup soup with beef, crumbs, egg, salt and pepper. Shape into 6 oval patties. In skillet, brown patties, pour off fat. Remove patties. Gradually blend remaining soup into flour until smooth. Add to skillet remaining ingredients; stir to loosen browned bits. Add browned patties to skillet and cover. Cook over low heat 20 minutes or until done. Stir occasionally.
