Recipe: Sauerkraut Polish-Style (using canned sauerkraut,1970's)

SAUERKRAUT POLISH-STYLE

1 (16 ounce) can sauerkraut
1 1/2 cans water
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
2 tablespoons sugar
1 small onion, diced
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
2 tablespoons flour mixed in 1 cup or less water

Rinse sauerkraut well in colander. Put in 3-quart pot. Add 1 1/2 cans water, salt, pepper, caraway seed and sugar. Cook on low heat about 45 minutes.

In small saucepan brown onions in butter. After sauerkraut is done, shut off heat and stir in onions. Mix in flour and water mixture and stir well.
