Recipe(tried): Southern Fried Chicken

I hope you find this recipe helpful.It is plain and simple and my family and friends absolutely love it!

Southern Fried Chicken

2 cups flour
1/4 cup salt
1/8 cup pepper
1/8 cup garlic powder

Mix all these ingredients in a plastic ziploc bag and take your pieces of chicken(I rinse my raw chicken before flouring) and shake each piece in ziploc bag.Heat oil in frying pan on #6(or med.high) and fry for about 10 min.on each side.Should come out golden brown.You may cover fry pan at first,but when you flip the chicken to cook the other side,leave it off.Check to see if your chicken is done by pricking deep into the meat.The juice should run clear.If it is bloody,its not done.If your chicken fries up golden,yet the juices do not run clear,your heat is up to high. Also,a gentleman wrote just a while back on TKL about placing your chicken on cake rakes to cool.It really does keep it cripier than cooling on paper towels.Also a TRUE southern would never pour gravy on top of fried chicken.That makes it Yankee-fied!(Ha!Ha!) Enjoy!!!
