Here is a recipe for "Swedish Dreams" (also referred to as thimble cookies). These are a staple for my holiday cookie tray and they freeze well. I am also
sending a recipe for Pecan Puffs as well.

Swedish Dreams (Thimble Cookies)

1/2 cup butter
1 beaten egg yolk
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
Crushed walnuts (I buzz mine in the coffee grinder)

Cream butter, add sugar, egg yolk and flour. Roll into balls and then roll balls into crushed walnuts. Make indentation in middle with thimble or finger. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. About halfway through the baking, put jam into the hole and finish baking.

Pecan Puffs

1/2 cup butter
2 tbsp. white sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup sifted flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter, add sugar and vanilla. Add half flour, then pecans, and remainder of flour. Roll into balls. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes. Roll in icing sugar when hot and again when hold. These melt in your mouth and also freeze well.
