Italy's most famous desert recipe
Ingredients: for 6 to 8 servings:
14 oz. (400 g.) savoiardi (champagne biscuits/ lady fingers)
14 oz. (400 g.) mascarpone (ricotta or cream cheese)
4 eggs (separated)
4 oz. (100 g.) of sugar
2 cup of espresso or very strong black coffee
1 oz. (30 g.) of cacoa powder
Preparation:
Separate the eggs, beat the eggs yolks and sugar together into smooth creamy consistacy, add the mascarpone cheese and fold in the stiffy beaten eggwhites. Soak the lady fingers with the coffee. Line the
bottom of an oblong mold or pan with half the lady fingers and spread over half the cream mixture. Cover with the remainging lady fingers and the rest of the cream mixture. Cover top with cacao. Chill until served.
Tip: If you don't add the cacao until serving, you can even conserve the tiramis in the freezer.
