Thank You: Med, Thanks for the hint on the pummkins....

Hi Med!
Thank you so much for the hint on keeping real pumpkins. I may try that this year with an indoor pumpkin on the counter....I think Country Living's Oct. issue featured an article with pictures of cutting out the pumpkins using little cooking cutters shaped like moons and stars and then putting candles inside and stacking them outside.
Those glass and wire pumpkins from Sam's sound real pretty! I should go and check them out...I think my neighbor is a member!
You are absolutely right about Fall in the mountains...we go to Bryson City and I believe that going through Cherokee, NC there is a road that takes you across to Gatlinburg. We have never gone across but may do it this year just for the experience. When we are driving towards the cabin in Bryson City, we see fruit and vegetable stands with all sorts of pumpkins and gourds. There's a farm also on the way and one can see corn stalks for miles. Last year they had a maze...there is always a nip in the air and the aroma of boiling peanuts and apples, apples, apples everywhere. I love the apple cider bottles they sell too! I love it! I especially look forward to going the the Farmer's Market in Asheville and hauling back Amish butter and cheese and buying bittersweet and bags of gourds. It is soooo beautiful, the trees are awash in russet, gold, orange and greens...aaah, Fall, God's gift to us all before Winter sets in.
Happy Fall! Gina
