jackie - what is kosher salt?

Misc.
i mean, obviously i know what kosher meat is and different storage methods etc but i don't really understand how salt can be kosher; pls explain. Also, if you can shed a little light on the matter what are the differences between salt - i do love salt even though i know it's bad, but would like to use the healthiest option without using that awful salt substitute. Any advice gratefully recieved!
