June/Fl - pork chops etc

Misc.
time was when meat was a treat and not something that we had everyday - as a consequence and in order to keep supply up with demand something has to be sacrificed - that something being the lack of flavour and texture that you've noticed!! This is all due to intensive farming methods and the production of meat on such a large scale. I've noticed the very same thing myself so now what i do is i eat meat less often but when i do i make sure that it's good stuff - sure, you pay more but it really is worth it. You need to find free range/organic produce now in order to get meat that tastes the way it used to. sorry to bang on about it but we can't have it all :)!! I had noticed that the chicken i was buying has absolutely NO flavour so i went and got a free range/organic one and boy, the difference!! Even my vege partner commented that he could actually SMELL it cooking and that the bird wasn't bloated from all the water they pump into the poor 'ol things!! With mince and stuff i don't think it makes a whole lot of difference because you add seasoning etc to make hamburgers et al so you probably don't notice but that is the next thing i have to try! As for the new potatoes we'll have to wait another month for our glorious Jersey Royals but it will be worth the wait!
