June/FL re: UT - Austin
Misc.DH and I always liked Austin, too. We both did graduate work there. Unfortunately, we don't get back as often as your daughter. Last summer, when we visited, was the first time I had been back in 30 years! In fact, Katrina struck LA, and MS while we were there. We were only there about 5 days but we had a great time. Downtown Austin seems pretty unchanged but we were amazed at how much the rest of the city had spread, especially to the west on the other side of Lake Austin, but also to the south and north. We pretty much ate ourselves silly on Mexican food, barbeque, and chicken fried steak - not too good for our waistlines, but it was heavenly having someone else prepare it rather than making any of those things at home:-)! We also dropped a fair number of dollars on caps, shirts, and scrubs at the UT bookstore. (We thought our daughters. especially the one in medical school up here, would get a kick out of having UT medical school scrubs which are Texas oramge with a little Bevo embroidered on both the top and pants.)
I'll keep my fingers crossed that the Pats will be able to take care of Denver. Time will tell.
