Recipe(tried): Barbecued Hamburger

Barbecued Hamburger

3 pounds ground beef
3/4 cup onion, chopped
1 Tbsp. salt
Sauce
1-1/2 cups onion, chopped
3 cups canned tomatoes
3/4 cup tomato paste
1/3 cup vinegar
1/3 cup brown sugar,packed
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 Tbsp. bottled steak sauce
dash of Tabasco sauce
1/2 Tbsp. salt
dash cayenne pepper

Combine the first 3 ingredients and brown well, crumbling the beef. Set aside.
In another pan combine all the sauce ingredients and simmer uncovered for 1 hour, stirring frequently.
Add meat/onion mixture to sauce, combining well. Simmer for another hour.
Serve on hamburger buns.
This may sound a little more involved than your usual sloppy joe type mixture but once you've tried it I think you will find it worth the time.
