HAZELNUT CHERUBS
1 1/3 cups sifted flour
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup raspberry jam
FOR THE TOPPING:
1 cup chopped Oregon hazelnuts
1 egg
1/2 cup sugar
Dash salt
Mix flour, brown sugar, butter and 1/2 teaspoon salt with a pastry blender until all combined. Pack into the bottom of a greased shallow (13x9-inch) baking pan. Spread with jam.
Bake in a 350 degree F oven for 8 minutes.
Combine ingredients for the topping; spread over the baked layer.
Bake for 20 minutes. Cut while warm.
Makes 12 bars
