Recipe(tried): How to remove mildew smell from clothes

Tips and Tricks - Cooking
My sister-in-law gave us a bunch of clothes for our baby that had been sitting in cardbord boxes in her basement. They didn't have mildew stains, but they really smelled. I tried the baking soda, and I tried vinegar in the wash cycle and rinse cycle.

What finally worked was adding color-safe bleach in the wash cycle, and liquid fabric softener in the rinse cycle.
