Rich Honey Gingerbread
1-1/2 cups sifted flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 t. baking powder
1/4 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. ginger
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. cloves
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup milk or water
4 T. melted shortening
Sift dry ingredients together 3 times. Mix egg, honey, milk and shortening.
Combine liquid and dry ingredients and beat thoroughly. Pour into greased pan
and bake in moderate oven (350 F) for 30-35 minutes. Makes 1 9"x12" cake.
