Oatmeal-Maple Syrup Drop Cookies

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup maple syrup
1 egg
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup seedless raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Beat shortening, maple syrup and egg.

Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add to syrup mixture alternately with milk. Mix well. Add oatmeal, raisins and nuts. Drop by spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake 350-375 degrees F about 15 minutes.
