Recipe: Quick and Spicy Tamari Nut Mix
Appetizers and SnacksQUICK AND SPICY TAMARI NUT MIX
Served warm, this irresistible treat is extremely flavorful and aromatic, but room temperature is amazing, too. If you don't "do" spicy, omit the cayenne.
2 tsp peanut or canola oil
1 cup shelled pumpkin seeds
1 cup shelled peanuts
1/2 cup cashews
1/2 cup pecans
1/2 cup almonds
1 tbsp soy sauce or tamari sauce
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
squeeze of fresh lemon
Heat oil in a large saute pan over medium heat. Add nuts and saut , stirring often for 3-5 minutes or until nuts begin to turn golden brown.
Immediately drizzle the soy sauce or tamari over the mixture, and sprinkle with cayenne and lemon juice. Remove from heat and combine all ingredients.
Cool for a few moments and serve. Leftover mixture can be stored at room temperature for up to one week.
Makes 3 1/2 cups
