Hi Sylvia - the answer is actually "it depends." (sorry!) If the item is a liquid, it's easy to convert: 8 oz. = 1 cup. If it's butter, 1 stick = 4 oz. = 8 TBL. If it is a dry item, it isn't that easy. Measuring by weight, 3 oz. of flour is about 1/2 cup dry measure, but 3 oz. of sugar is about 1/3 cup. I keep a kitchen scale just for this reason.
